I dont know if its just mine, but i was drivng my new xmod today (the newest series) and i noticed the steering range knob had no effect on my turning. my original evo when it worked had a noticable difference. does anyone know it was another dropped idea or is it just mine you think?

I have no idea, but they might just be using the same controllers but left the cars as able to steer lock to lock. Does it drive to full lock? (can you push the wheels more than it can steer?)

Actually, wouldn't the steering range be processed by the Tx? Like, the knob affects how much the controller tells the car to steer via the signal.

Can you try another controller? Or do you not have another crystal of the same frequency? I know they made it so the frequencies can't be changed without cutting your chassis. Though, Atomic mods has the tut up.

I still cant imagine why they took a huge step back and made it unable to swap crystals. I dont have another controller the same band, no, so I cant do it.

I should have asked the guys at Rat Shack when I was in town today. But I can still push the wheels past where it locks.

But like I said, the st. range at minimum turns the same angle as the max. I even did a few donuts with it maxium and minimum, no difference. Anyone else with a street xmod can tell me if theirs works?

I'll check a bit later as I have 2 of them.

I think your car is defective man, mine works as it should, just like the older models.
baratacus
keep in mind you should still have a couple clicks of steering trim to either side when at full lock, but you should def be able to see the difference between max and min steering setting. Take it back and get a new one. Defects happen.

Yay. Second return since christmas. Im really displeased with the new xmods so far. First the steering would lock up, now the trim isnt working.

Not sure if its really worth the effort to dismantle the vehicle, replace everything with stock parts, and take it back. The steering trims the only thing wrong with it.

I just have one more question. I have just put the AWD in. And I have the bearings in. But when installing AWD, I noticed I lost the bearings for the front diff and the driveshaft. Will it harm anything to have the rear diff with bearings, and the front and the driveshaft with the standard grey plastic bushings?
baratacus
It won't be AS smooth as bearings, but its not going to harm anything. You still pick up gains from your bearings on the wheels and the rear dif.

I knew the manager of my RadioShack on a first name basis, not from buying Xmods, but from returning them... I returned my 1st gen Xmod about 10 times. I even returned one of my xmods on a day when they where doing a 2 for 1 sale, and left with 2 xmods. laugh.gif
