Full Version: arrow flight, aero flight?

I don't remember which way they spelled it, but its a 2 channel plane by FastLane for sale at toysRus for 20 bucks. Its a single wing, forward puller prop and an actuator rudder. Made of EPP foam and about a 10 inch wingspan with a lipo cell in it. It looks like the same TX gear that the aero ace uses, and the design looks just like the old silverlit singlewing. The use of a lipo v.s. the NIMH pack will make it a much better preformer than the singlewing though. I didn't pick one up yet, but it looks like the best buy in the micro flight arena right now. It's got all the other planes beat by at least 10 dollars, and it actually uses a ruder instead of vector thrust.

OK its spelled arrow, and it turns out that it might NOT have a lipo in it. I'll have to research further. It would definitely be worth getting and sticking a lipo in though.

hey baratacus,
the fastlane arrow is the same as the silverlit SingleWing, i believe silverlit just sold the rights from the plane to fastlane. so basically, what you know about the SW, you know about the Arrow. NiMH, 3.7:1 ratio gearbox with 7mm motor (very close to BSDmicroRC.coms 4:1 7mm motor gearbox that sells for 25 bucks!), semi-proportional throttle, bang bang steering.

i love it though, its more fun to fly than the AAs i think, as you can get them to do some funky stuff in the air, even a few seconds worth of prop hanging and torque rolls.

you've sold me.. I was planing on getting one when it was the single wing, and put it off untill they didn't have them anymore... now they have them as the arrow, I'll pick one up and convert it to lipo.  The video I saw on rc groups made it look like a lot of fun.  with a 7mm 4:1 gearbox/motor setup it should have some nice thrust.

update: I picked one up today and split it open. It has 3 Nimh 1/4aaa cells in it that are KAN 70mah cells wired in series. They weigh 8.9 grams with their leads.

I cut that out and replaced it with a full river 150mah lipo that weighs 3.35 grams. So I save 5 and a half grams, and pick up 2x the capacity and 5x the discharge capability. I have no idea how well it flew before because i just won't fly something with nimh's in it. wink.gif (lipo snob) It climbs at half throttle and will pulls a nice full loop at full throttle. I don't like the torque on it though. The motor torq rolls the plane left, the prop is geared so its torque throws the plane left as well. Result, hard left turn rolls it and puts the nose in the dirt fast. I think I'll try changing the prop out with a smaller prop and see if it will still preform well direct drive. It will reduce the torque roll a lot regardless.
