Hey guys,

Here's something I started work on today.

It came out of the blue actually, I hadn't had it planned out at all, I just started work on it immediately.

So first, I decided on the body I wanted to use.

Here was the choice :

It came with only the rear wheel wells cut out, so I had to cut out the fronts, was an easy enough task with a dremel.

Next, I cut the superslicks chassis.

The rear end had a bit of a rough cut

so I dremeled it smooth.....

Next I ground it down on some concrete, it's allot faster and easier than sanding, and I didn't want to spend 20mins with sandpaper when I could just spend 3mins grounding. wink.gif

Came out smooth enough.

For the front end, I didn't need to dremel, a little grounding down had it sorted out nicely.

That's all i've done so far, the chassis will be extended, and it will have H plate style suspension in the rear.

And here's what's going inside:

Here's a mock-up of what it should look like when complete...

Any comments are very much welcomed, I need some to keep me going and to finish the project smile.gif

I also need a faster than stock Superslicks motor, if anybody has one, I'd appreciate it greatly.

looking good

what color are you planning on painting it?
Joe717
I'm planning on a matte black.

I have a reason though.

The molding on this body was a little off, and allthough I think could get it back up to scratch, the patches of bad molding actually look like a badly done body filler job, and the chips in the front bumper could be real too!

So it's going to look used and aged a little, but it'll still be a smoker cool.gif
Joe717
I'm hoping it'll be finished over this weekend, if all goes to plan.

More mock-up shots ?

Nope, there's a chassis under this baby! cool.gif

Problem is, I need to do some shaving on the underneath, and hopefully once the chassis has been painted, you wont be able to see my messy extension like you can now. It's messy, but it's strong and functional. So I'll let it pass. and for the record, yes, that's one section of ruler, and a piece of credit card..oh and some super glue laugh.gif

Onto the messy chassis pics.

As you can see, almost zero ground clearance, about a micrometer! laugh.gif
Needs some damn good shaving, besides, I'm planning on new wheels, I think, so that'll sort the ground clearance out.

Messy close-ups. laugh.gif

Body sits just like I wanted, I just have to mount it now. :???:

I'll update tomorrow with some paint on the chassis, right now I'm just admiring what I created in about an hour of "spur of the moment, use what resources you have" mode laugh.gif

you know the motor pod seperates from the chassis don't you? You could have just done that and mounted the motor pod on the T-plate. might not have been enough room for the bat pack that way though... are you using the stock motor setup? or are you going to dual motor it?

Oh dry.gif laugh.gif

A single motor setup will be fine, I want to be able to coast along at low speeds, and coreless is perfect wink.gif , But i'll need some control, so that's what the DG master pcb will be for. I'm going to set it up for just propo throttle, and non-propo steering I think.

Loving it! Keep it up. I really like that body, where's it from?

Keep thoes pics comming!
SkysTheLimit

I second that idea. the propo throttle would be sweet in a superslick, and setting up the propo control wouldn't be easy. Anyways i never liked the dg master's steering, the lag really annoyed me. Goodluck on your project, and sweet body.
Joe717
Thanks guys.

Sorry but the body is a one-off cast, it's resin.

It's being painted flat black, because of the defects in the mold, it should look like an old beater that's been given cheap paint job to look ok, we see alot of car's like that here. wink.gif , and that's the effect I want smile.gif

I got the paint, second coat is drying now smile.gif
