TimtheToolman did such a wonderful job on the Hovercraft tutorial that many people have been inspired to try their hand at a hovercraft build.

Almost a year later, Tim's thread continues to inspire builders to try their hand.

Here is theHovercraft Tutorial by TimTheToolman

Here are the successful Hovercraft builds by Tim, and others.

How do you make it steer?
Dirtjump9
Most people here used a tank or boat PCB to drive two independant motors in the rear. The lift fan is switch controlled.
PS, when my boat comes I will finish mine biggrin.gif

here's my two little HC's. the bigger pink one was made from a meat tray, it uses a red 7mm SS motor with a cut down and retrimmed 2x1 GWS prop for lift and a fully proportional 2 channel RX for thrust and steering (X-Twin/AeroAce airplane) that use 6mm pager motors and counter rotating 50mm props. a 3 cell NiMH pack for the lifting fan and a 130mah lipo cell for the RX. its 8 inches long, 5.5 inches wide.

the small white one was made from foam dinner plates. using a 6mm ZZ motor with a Aero X prop coupled to an 80mah lipo. same X-Twin/AeroAce RX, motors, prop and lipo. this one is 4.5 inches long and 3.5 inches wide.

they both cruise at a pretty good speed, and they both turn on a dime, doing donuts if i want them too. i had never built hover crafts before, but after doing micro RC planes for some time, and then running across this thread, i thought i'd give it a try. cheap fun smile.gif
