After being away from this hobby for years, I busted out all my old zipzaps and crap and started to get back into them. Unfortunatly, these things are scarce now and RS doesn't sell them like they used to. Anyway, they came out with a new line of zipzaps under the xmod brand so I picked one up. The motor is hardwired but the axels and tires are the same as the old ZZ's. I charged it up to take it for a spin. Once I hit the throttle, all it would do is do donuts. The motor is either super powerful or has more volts going to it. Cant even keep the thing straight. Anyone got one of these? I even taped a 9 volt battery to the chassis and it was still faster that the stock zipzaps I have. What the hell? I mean this is cool but man, you cant even play with it unless you just want to do donuts. Anyway, does anyone else have one and can you tell me if you're having the same issue? I'm thinking about removing the motor and modifying the chassis so it will accept regular motors. Shouldn't be too hard.

I had one of the "CARS" zip zaps. It was pretty much the same as the current zipzaps, but the motor was not hardwired. It uses a zipzap SE motor. Problem is that without proportional control, it is hard to control the SE motor in a lightweight zipzap. Pulse the throttle and practice letting off of it in turns to maintain control. If you want to get inside the thing and do some electronic mods, you can put in a resistor that will limit the voltage to the motor. It should give you longer run times as well.

this is late coming but the yes the name was changed. Xmods have officially be discontinued as of january 2010. No word yet if that means the xmod micro RC cars (zipzaps) will follow. I would assume they would.

as for the models under the new name.
