I've been seeing these for awhile and finally decided to post these to get other peoples opinions of them. They are thin foam and connect together like rcp.

You can get 4 different playsets with different diecast vehicles too and scenery items. They are all a basic short oval.

They look like they're too narrow to drive a micro RC on them. Something like a ZipZap really needs a track at least 8" wide. You'd have to add some kind of barricade to them as well.

You could always put the material side by side to make wider lanes if you like. I agree you still need barriers but that shouldn't be difficult. I was even thinking if you already own a slot car track you could simply place this material on the track without adhesive and place barriers around the inside and outside of the track. This way you would have a dual purpose track.

side-by-side would make the straights wider, but there's only one radius of curve, so it wouldn't work with curves.

Steelo,

I think it might be more cost effective to cut your own from tiles like
those from Sams Club and Walmart.

it is always good to get new ideas out there, you never what you might stumble upon.

and you could use them for like, narrow sections in the track if you wanted.

in mexico it is 160 pesos for 4 tiles of 24" on a side (about 15 bucks)

I'm just coming up with different ideas. Alot of people I talk to want some of the same things. Smaller more portable style of RCP and also look more like a real track without having to build everything from scratch.

A standard HO slot car track is 3" wide so I thought this might make for a better driving surface to lay down, but as Kishkumen pointed out it won't fit odd curves so it would really limit you to what you can do with the track design.

Scale wise in 1/64th for NASCAR the lanes should be anywhere from 6-12 inches. This is including the road circuits. Obviously each track has it's own characteristics and you would have to get each tracks information to figure out how wide the lanes would be to create a scale representation of that track. Most tracks will be too big to recreate for various reasons, but there are a few short tracks that could be done in 1/64th scale and not take up more than a typical RCP type track.

I only make this point because you can setup a 4 lane (6") HO track relatively cheap and it should be sufficient in theory depending on the car and it's setup. Even if you setup an 8 lane (12") HO it won't cost that much if you use used track pieces and if it can serve as an R/C track as well as a slot track and take the same amount of space (just remove the foam material from the track and store it under the track table) then in my opinion you've got a winner. There are alot of slot car guys that would invest time and money to just this.

I say just make your own track out of plywood. Get 8x4 sheets. I often wondered for good tracktion maybe lining the plywood with cork.

Scale width is often too narrow for these little cars. They're so difficult to control compared to a hobby-class car (or a full-size car) that 6" is way too narrow for a 1:64 micro car. If you want to wait a few years someone will come out with a true proportional 1:64 car that handles like a 1:10 car, Mini-Z, or Epoch but if you want a track now you really have to make it wider than scale. Else driving on it will be frustrating.
