Forum Guidelines
FAQ: What's the most important rule?
A: Everyone must use good common sense when they use the forum.

FAQ: What's the best micro RC car?
A: It varies based on your budget and needs. You can start by reading the front page of the website.

FAQ: Are there contests or giveaways at the Micro RC Center forum?
A: Yes. All contests and giveaways are announced in the News and General Discussions area. You can see what prizes other members have won in the past by reading the Micro RC Center Prizes thread.

FAQ: Can I put a link in my signature back to my website?
A: Sure, but the page it links to MUST have a link to our website.

Why? Because you can add your web address by using your control panel. If you want to add an EXTRA link to your website, we only ask that you return the favor by putting a link back to us.

FAQ: Why is it that when I try to send a private message (PM) or an eMail it says I'm not allowed?
A: Because people were abusing the private message system, it has been turned off. eMail is allow once you become Trial Member (see below).

FAQ: What are the titles and group categories?
A: When you first sign-up, your title is "Newbie" and you're in the group called "Newbies". The Newbies group is not allowed to send eMail to other members, start polls or use the private messaging system. Once you post 25 messages, you'll advance to "Trial Member" in the group called "Members" and have full access to forum features.

[Posts - Title - Group - Pips]
[0-24 - Newbie - Newbies - 0]
[25-99 - Trial Member - Members - 1]
[100-299 - Junior Member - Members - 2]
[300-499 - Member - Members - 3]
[500-999 - Senior Member - Members - 4]
[1000+ - Forum Expert - Members - 5]

FAQ: Can I add images to my message?
A: Yes, if they are 400 pixels wide or less at 72dpi. Just put the image somewhere online where you can link to it and use the IMG button to add the image to your message. Or you can use the "browse" button to upload the picture from your hard drive.

Why? Images that are larger than 400 pixels wide mess how the forum is viewed on some browsers. Also, large images simply take longer to download and we want this forum to be as speedy as possible.

FAQ: Can I add images to my signature?
A: No.
Why? If you've been to any other forum that allows images in the signature area, you've seen what a mess that can turn into. Not only does it slow down the forum, but it also requires more vertical scrolling to view topics.

FAQ: How many lines can my signature be?
A: 4 or less. Anything more will be deleted without notice.

Why? Again, because our goal is to create a forum that's fast and easy to read, we try to minimize vertical scrolling. Nobody wants to see the same images over and over in the signature area anyway.

FAQ: Can I add large, colorful text to my signature?
A: No.

Why? Once again, because our goal is to create a forum that's fast and easy to read, we try to minimize vertical scrolling. A signature with large, colorful text is difficult to read and causes a distraction.

FAQ: How do I add a custom avatar (picture) next to my name?
A: Follow these steps:
1. Create a 64x64 pixel GIF or JPEG image that's UNDER 5k.
2. Put your avatar online somewhere so you can link to it.
3. Go to the forum and click on "Your Control Panel" link in the upper left corner to access your custom settings.
4. Click on "Edit Avatar Settings" in left column.
5. Scroll down to where it says "Your avatar" and enter the web address in the box just to the right of that phrase.
6. Finish by clicking on the "Add this avatar to my profile" button at the bottom.

FAQ: Why are the usernames at the bottom different colors?
A: The color of the usernames are based on the status of each member:

Administrator, Assistant Admin, Moderator, Member (any level)

FAQ: What is that warning level below my username?
A: Frankly, it won't mean much to most people, but here's how it works...

Regular members can only view their own Warn Level. If it's 0%, that means nobody has warned you about anything. If it's anything else, you can click on the percentage number and it will display the warning message and who posted it.

If it's neccessary for admins or moderators to warn you 5 times total, your account will automatically be suspended. If anyone reaches that level (and you shouldn't), I'll probably turn off the account permanently.

All admins and moderators can view, add and remove warning messages.

This system is in place just to keep out some of the rare trouble makers. However, don't worry too much if you get one or two warnings when you're new. If you listen to the moderators advice and use good common sense, it will be next to impossible to get 5 warnings.
